Last July 9, we are having our recollection here in Davao. I thought that we are going to go to a place in which you can really meditate, but when I saw the place, the first thing that really come to my mind is not to go downstairs. Because I really expect that we are going to go to a place in which solemn. Just like last recollection when I was in 1st year college. I really appreciate the beauty of the surrounding. But still it is ok because I go there not to enjoy but to feel the presence of God and reflect for what I have done to my past and mistakes and to realize that there is GOD.

P.E Practical Exam

As I said today will be our practical exam in P.E., and I hope that we really get a high grade in our presentation a while ago. I know that it is not perfect enough but still I am hoping that we made to get a high score or grade rather in our practical exam and also later I have my exam in P.E again but it is different because it is a written exam. I don’t know if I to passed it or not, because some of the questions there I left it blank. This is also the reason why I am so late in our Theology class that took my teacher to get angry on me.

Earthquake

Some of the Filipinos and not only Filipinos but also some of the people living in the outside country are really in panics yesterday when we all know about the said earthquake. But by Gods help there is no earthquake came. And you know what it us approximately 7.5 magnitude and it can destroy one city or not only one city but one country. Yes! and many of the people will die if that said earthquake is true. I am so afraid because I think that it is the earthquake that said in the prophecy of the late S. Lucia of Portugal and the message was from our Holy Mother. But yesterday at the news the broadcaster said and make it clear that the said earthquake is not true and he tell also that no one can predict if there is an earthquake that will occur.

HS student killed by Fire

A high school student died after being trapped in one of the five houses gutted by fire in Sta. Ana district, Manila before dawn Friday.

Police identified the fatality as Francisco Leodones, 12, of No. 1725, Punta in Sta. Ana district.

Snooky Leodones, the victim's aunt, said they tried to wake the victim up as flames consumed their home around 3 a.m.

The woman said she hurriedly ran out of the house and tried to save some belongings, thinking that her nephew was already safe outside.

She discovered that Leodones had died in the blaze while firefighters were clearing debris.

Arson probers said that flames spread from the Leodones family's home toward the Emilio Aguinaldo Elementary School. At least three floors of a school building were gutted.

Fire also destroyed four more houses before flames were put out around 4 a.m.

Water samples inside sunken ferry

Water samples near the sunken ship MV Princess of the Stars near Sibuyan Island in Romblon tested negative of contamination from the pesticide endosulfan, an official of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) said Wednesday.

FPA Executive Director Norlito Gicana said the results of the July 1 surface water tests have been forwarded to Transport Undersecretary Elena Bautista.

Bautista, head of the government task force overseeing search and retrieval operations, said test results of water samples inside the ferry will be released later Wednesday. On Monday, divers took four water samples from inside the sunken ferry by drilling holes into the cargo deck.

The government and the ferry owners have abandoned a plan to bore a hole into the 24,000-ton vessel to retrieve the bodies and a cargo of endosulfan that threatens the marine environment. Instead, the sunken ferry will be refloated in the latest effort to recover hundreds of bodies trapped inside.

Three buried alive

Three people, including two children, died while another went missing following a landslide in Samboan, Cebu on Sunday night.

Senior Police Officer 1 Dominador Perolino, acting town police chief, identified the young fatalities as Nathaniel and Errol, both surnamed Cañete. The third fataility was identified as Florence Galla.

Perolino said the three died after four homes in Barangay Poblacion were buried by a landslide Sunday night.

The police officer said the landslide occurred due to heavy rains in Cebu province the whole Sunday.

A certain Edwin Galla Jr. remained missing while six occupants of the buried houses have been brought to Malabuyoc District Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a total of 134 families were evacuated from three flooded villages in Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday.

Four whale sharks

DAGUPAN CITY - Residents of Bonuan Binloc were surprised to see four whale sharks along the coast of the beach this Tuesday around seven o'clock in the morning.

According to the residents, two were seen in the morning and around three in the afternoon, two more were noticed.

Elmer Saranglao, worker of a nearest resort, said that some fishermen were planning already to get the whale sharks and bring the meat to the market. Thios prompted him to call the attention of officials on the situation.

Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said that the whale sharks were having their feeding season here.

A Philippine ferry with more than 700 people on board capsized during a typhoon and most are missing, officials said on Sunday.

Rescuers were trying to reach the scene where the MV Princess of Stars sank near Sibuyan island in the centre of the country but churning waves from Typhoon Fengshen made the crossing hazardous.

"The ship is upside down. We are waiting for rescuers but there are none so far. Our pump boats are all broken," Ricardo Aligno, a town councilor from the coastal village of San Fernando, told local radio.

The coast guard expected one of its ships to arrive in the area by early afternoon. The ferry sank about three kilometers from shore.

Local mayor Nanette Tansingco told radio that three survivors had been found.

But at least four others aboard are known to have died.

The bodies of two women and some children's' slippers were washed ashore. Before dawn on Sunday, some villagers heard warning sirens from the ship, which had 626 passengers and 121 crew on board.

800 passengers stranded

Close to 800 passengers are stranded in ports of Bicol Friday as typhoon Frank (international codename Fengshen) battered the region and parts of the Visayas, the National Disaster Coordinating Council said.

Initial NDCC data showed that a total of 794 people were stranded in various ports in Bicol as public storm warning signal No. 3 was hoisted over some parts of the region.

NDCC said 153 are stranded in Matnog port while 30 others failed to sail home from Pilar in Sorsogon province. There were 244 people stranded in Tabaco City, Albay; 10 in Virac, Catanduanes; and 357 in Masbate province.

As of 11 a.m., weather bureau PAGASA said signal No. 3 has been raised in the provinces of Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay and Catanduanes in Luzon as well as in Samar provinces, Leyte and Biliran Island in the Visayas.

Signal No. 2 was hoisted over Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Southern Leyte, Burias Island, northern Cebu, Dinagat Island and Siargao Island.

Oil crosses 136 dollars

NEW YORK - Crude oil hit 136 dollars a barrel Friday for the first time in New York trade, jumping more than eight dollars in a day as the market responded to a sharp decline in the dollar.

New York's main oil futures contract, light sweet crude for July delivery, touched an all-time high of 136.62 dollars a barrel, up 8.83 dollars from Thursday's close.

That far outstripped its previous all-time peak of 135.09 dollars struck on on May 22.

The dollar slumped after the US government reported the US unemployment rate jumped unexpectedly by a half percentage point to 5.5 percent last month, the steepest increase in more than two decades.

The weakening dollar boosts oil prices because it makes crude relatively cheaper for buyers using other currencies, analysts said.

Four hurt in Cavite LPG blast

Four members of a family were injured after a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder exploded inside their home in Rosario, Cavite, before dawn Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Edgar Rotero of the Cavite Police Provincial Office said Vigildo Bombita and his three sons identified as Niño, Bryan and Byron, were asleep on the second floor of their home when the LPG tank exploded around 1 a.m.

Rotero said the victims fell from the second floor after it collapsed because of the explosion's impact. Three other homes were affected by the explosion, police investigators said.

The victims were rushed to St. Martin's Hospital in Rosario town.

Rotero said Vigildo initially suspected that the explosion was caused by the air-conditioning unit. Police ordnance personnel, however, ruled out Vigildo's theory because the unit was still working properly.

Las Piñas fire

Three people were hurt and 130 houses burned down when a fire broke out in Las Piñas City Saturday night.

Firefighters estimated that more than P3 million worth of property in Factor Compound in Barangay Almanza Uno were destroyed by the blaze.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire but they suspect that a lighted candle left unattended inside one of the houses may have sparked the fire.

The residents, however, suspect arson--they said the fire may have been deliberately set in order to drive them out of their homes.

3G offerings from Smart

SMART Communications Inc. will soon offer new 3G (third-generation) services that involve more complex applications following the grant of additional frequencies to the cellular firm. Smart, to date, has cornered a total of 25 Megahertz (MHz) of frequency spectrum.

Officials told the BusinessMirror in an interview last week that the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has granted Smart’s request for an additional 10 MHz of frequency band, specifically the 825-835/870-880 MHz band.

These are the very same frequencies which subsidiary Pilipino Telephone Corp. (Piltel) has been holding on to for many years now.

Piltel is no longer operating its AMPS (advance mobile-phone system technology) network and is just using the GSM (global system for mobile communications) infrastructure of Smart for its Talk ‘N Text brand. Piltel had been paying Smart the corresponding spectrum users’ fee (SUF) for this purpose.

“The NTC favorably considers the request and assigns frequency band 825-835/870-880 MHz to Smart,” a portion of NTC’s letter to Smart stated.

CAMP OLIVAS, PAMPANGA - Opening of classes in almost all areas in typhoon-ravaged Zambales will be delayed as hundreds of classrooms were damaged and destroyed by the wrath of tropical storm Cosme, education officials announced.

However, enrollment for students in all levels will go on as scheduled, said Odon Santiago, head of the regional physical facilities stationed at the regional office of the Department of Education (DepEd)

"Enrollment will go on as schedule but classes might be delayed to pave the way for the repair and rehabilitations of some 334 classrooms destroyed by the wrath of tropical storm "Cosme", said Santiago.

Santiago, who joined a special meeting of the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council 3, said five school districts including Sta.Cruz North, Sta.Cruz South, Candelaria, Masinloc and Iba have schools with classrooms that were found to be hazardous to occupants. These areas were hardest hit by the recent typhoon.

The report said the airplane's two passengers were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Eight killed, one hurt in Cabuyao bank raid

Eight bank employees were killed and another one was in critical condition in a bank robbery in Cabuyao, Laguna Friday.

Chief Superintendent Ricardo Padilla, Calabarzon police director, said the initial theory of the investigators was that the robbers were already inside the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation branch at the Science Park, when the employees reported for work Friday morning.

Padilla said the robbers shot the employees to the head, which gave police investigators suspicions that the victims knew the assailants.

“Kilala nila ang mga magnanakaw that’s why there were all killed. They were shot in the head,” Padilla told ANC television.

Police have yet to identify the victims.

The bodies of the seven victims, including the bank manager, were discovered inside the building while the body of a security guard was found outside, Padilla said.

Another employee, who was also shot to the head, was in critical condition.

Despite a setback in recent days, many financial market indicators have recovered substantially since the Bear Stearns/JPMorgan Chase & Co deal in mid-March, Goldman Sachs chief U.S. economist Jan Hatzius said.

Still, "we think that overall mortgage credit losses will end up being larger than generally believed," Hatzius said.

"Excess supply in the housing market is still growing; home prices are already falling at rates that are very rapid by the standards of previous housing downturns around the world; and U.S. loan-to-value ratios are much higher than in those previous downturns," he said.

Automatic Enrolment

General Santos City - Department of Education (DepEd) officials in the city said it would religiously implement the automatic enrolment for public school students this coming school year.

Schools Division Superintendent Estrella Lariosa said that pupils for grade 2 to 6 in elementary public schools and 2nd year to graduating high school students would no longer line up for enrolment this school year.

"Those pupils and students who passed all their subjects in the previous school year (2007-2008) will be automatically listed in the next grade or level," explained Lariosa. She said that only transferees and incoming Grade 1 pupils or first year high school students would be made to undergo the enrolment process.

Lariosa however made it clear that there will be no fees to be collected from those who will be enrolling in public schools.

MADRID - The Asian Development Bank on Saturday promised financial help for nations fighting the global food price crisis and attacked plans for a rice cartel.

Loans will help countries subsidize the price of food staples for the poor, ADB president Haruhiko Kuroda said on the first day of the banks four-day annual general meeting in Madrid.

"The amount depends on the requests from the affected countries," he told a news conference. "Possible total lending could be sizeable but not enormous."

The multinational lender will also provide two billion dollars (1.3 billion euros) in loans in 2008 and 2009 to finance agriculture infrastructure projects such as rural roads and irrigation systems to help boost farm output.

"Asia has a huge population with limited land for farming and a limited water supply so agriculture yields must be increased over time," Kuroda said.

Prices for the benchmark Thai variety of rice, a food stable across much of Asia, are at about 1,000 dollars a ton, up threefold from the last ADB annual meeting in Japan one year ago.

Five groups have expressed interest to bid for the 0.8-megawatt (MW) Amlan hydroelectric power plant in Negros Oriental.

Of the five prospective bidders, one is from abroad, according to Froilan Tampinco, vice-president for asset management and energy trading of the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM)

Tampinco, however, declined to identify the interested groups.

The deadline for submission of letters of interest was Monday.

PSALM authorized interested parties to conduct due diligence activities on the power plant from April 14 to June 23, 2008.

A pre-bid conference, where potential bidders can request clarification on the bidding process, will be held on May 7.

Port operator International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) said Monday it has formally signed a contract to operate and manage the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT).

In a disclosure to the stock exchange, ICTSI said it signed the 25-year concession contract with current operator Phividec Industrial Authority last Friday.

ICTSI was also issued a notice to start commercial operations of the terminal within 60 days.

MCT is located in Phividec Industrial Estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, which is about 20 kilometers from Cagayan de Oro City.

It can accommodate 270,000 twenty-foot equivalent units per year. The berth length is 300 meters with depth of 13 meters below the Mean Lower Low Level.

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and is the largest one in the solar system. If Jupiter were hollow, more than one thousand Earths could fit inside. It also contains more matter than all of the other planets combined. It has a mass of 1.9 x 10²⁷ kg and is 142,800 kilometers (88,736 miles) across the equator. Jupiter possesses 28 known satellites, four of which - Callisto, Europa, Ganymede and Io - were observed by Galileo as long ago as 1610. Another 12 satellites have been recently discovered and given provisional designators until they are officially confirmed and named. There is a ring system, but it is very faint and is totally invisible from the Earth. (The rings were discovered in 1979 by Voyager 1.) The atmosphere is very deep, perhaps comprising the whole planet, and is somewhat like the Sun. It is composed mainly of hydrogen and helium, with small amounts of methane, ammonia, water vapor and other compounds. At great depths within Jupiter, the pressure is so great that the hydrogen atoms are broken up and the electrons are freed so that the resulting atoms consist of bare protons. This produces a state in which the hydrogen becomes metallic.

Colorful latitudinal bands, atmospheric clouds and storms illustrate Jupiter's dynamic weather systems. The cloud patterns change within hours or days. The Great Red Spot is a complex storm moving in a counter-clockwise direction. At the outer edge, material appears to rotate in four to six days; near the center, motions are small and nearly random in direction. An array of other smaller storms and eddies can be found through out the banded clouds.

In 1837, Charles Babbage was the first to conceptualize and design a fully programmable mechanical computer that he called “The Analytical Engine”. Due to limited finance, and an inability to resist tinkering with the design, Babbage never actually built his Analytical Engine. In 1941, Konrad Zuse's electromechanical “Z machines,” the Z3, was the first working machine featuring binary arithmetic, including floating point arithmetic and a measure of programmability. Later on in the year 1998 the Z3 was proved to be Turing complete, therefore being declared the world's first operational computer. In addition to being the designer of the first computer made, Zuse founded the first computer startup company in 1946. This company then went on to build the Z4, which became the first commercial computer, which was leased to ETH Zürich in 1950.

Food Price Hikes

ACCRA - Higher food prices risk wiping out progress towards reducing poverty and, if allowed to escalate, could hurt global growth and security, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Sunday.

Opening a U.N. trade and development conference in Ghana, Ban pledged to use the full force of the world body he heads to tackle the price rises, which threaten to increase hunger and poverty and have already sparked food riots in Asia and Africa.

"I will immediately establish a high-powered task force comprised of eminent experts and leading authorities to address this issue," he said.

The U.N. head warned the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) meeting that huge increases in prices of food staples like cereals since last year could erase progress made towards U.N.-set goals of halving world poverty by 2015.

All of us know what love is and all of us know how love move in mysterious ways. Love is an instrument made by God to make his people be one. love is one of the christian principle that we should have to follow even though you are on the other sides of the globe you should have this principle. We or you should have to love your mother, your father, and even your neighbor. You also have to love the poor not only the rich person.

It is true that love means to sacrifice, because in order for you to love one person you first have to sacrifice for him. You have to help him when he/she is down and need a friend that could lean on her/his problem. You have to help him no matter what happen. You can show your love through others by your action or in your word.

You May Be Forsaken By Men But You Never Be Forsaken By God

The sting of the present economy of this current world that carries heartaches and disappointment in days to days existence offers us heavy thoughts on despondency that God has forsaken us.

In truth and in fact, God has not forsaken us nor will he ever forsake us. Once he said: "if mother who carries the baby in her womb for nine months will never learn to forget her child, so do I will never forget you. I had purchased you so dearly and paid for you, with a high price of my most precious blood."

Fellow believers in christ, if the present happenings are a burden to our life, let us lift up our eyes towards heaven and sigh for the heavenly rewards that await those who bear all things in this world patiently and courageously till the end. After all God does not ask us, if we have coped with the latest model in dresses, hairdoes, in the latest attire. When we die, God will only ask one thing, that is: " How much we have love God through our fellowmen." This is the foremost and the most. God will never ask for anything else.

So let us not be preoccupied with other matters, so that we will not have those discouraging thoughts that God has forsaken us. God loves us, so much that he will never abandon us.

Blessed are They Who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness for They Shall Be Satisfied

If we make holiness our goal, we will attain happiness. If we make happiness our goal, we will search a lifetime and never find it.This is implied in Jesus' words in the sermon on the mount. He said that the way to blessedness is through poverty of spirit, purity of heart, and a longing for righteousness.

Some people think happiness can be achieved by getting rid of restrictions. They reasonthis way: If rules and regulations are eliminated, the frustration of having to decided between right and wrong is removed, thereby, avoiding separation in human relationship. Some moral men say: it is more important to enjoy life and to be happy than to do righteous things. Being right and suffering is no fun. When this line of though is applied to absolute standards of morality, man is in deep trouble. He denies the reality of sin in his heart as the source of all his woes. He forgets that all lasting joys is rooted in separation - separation from evil unto God.

No one who hungers and thirst after righteousness will be disappointed, even thoguh he may encounter pain, misunderstandin, and loneliness. Holiness is the only pathb to true and enduring happiness.

Too Much Materialism Draws Us Away Form God

This always a very sad downfall of many persons who claim to be spiritually guided and yet remain mediocre. It is because of their too much craving for material things, for honors, glories, praises and pleasures of this world; that may come and go, and disappear form this world without leaving a shadow.

Many persons go to church, appearing devotedly pious, their lips speak of God and proclaim the word of God, and yet thee hearts are far, far away from God. Himself because they are the persons classified as hypocrites and full of pretentions. They speak of justice, goodness, compassion, and forgiveness; but, how are they in their helpers at home and to the people who are subordinate to them? Are they fair, just, full of pity and compassion? Perhaps, we start shaking our heads, realizing tghath ample gap between the principle spoken of and the practice being done.

Let us not be hypocrites! Let us be our selves! We remain what we are before God. Let us humble ourselves before the mighty throne of God and ask forgiveness for our enumerable misdeeds.
